South Korea Joins UAE’s $22 Billion Stargate AI Infrastructure Project
South Korea has entered into a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates to collaborate on the $22 billion Stargate AI infrastructure initiative. The project, one of the largest of its kind, aims to establish massive AI data centers in Abu Dhabi with a targeted capacity of 5 gigawatts. High-level discussions between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan solidified the agreement, underscoring a growing alliance in technology and energy sectors.
The Stargate project already boasts involvement from major global tech players, including OpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, and SoftBank. South Korea’s participation brings critical expertise in energy management, advanced battery systems, and climate-friendly technologies—key components for meeting the project’s substantial power demands. Seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed, covering collaborations in nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, space exploration, and bio-health sectors.
Abu Dhabi’s push into AI infrastructure signals significant opportunities for hardware suppliers and energy providers. The Stargate initiative is poised to reshape the regional tech landscape, with South Korea’s role amplifying its potential for scalability and innovation.
